Premier 7/11 Sandbass Sandbass Sandbass
#1
Hey there guys,

Rode the Premier today. Danny skippered and Mikie decked. Had some acclimatated anchovies and got a lot more on the way to the sandbass grounds. Traveled down south a good distance with 15 or so other sporties from LB/SP. Over 20 sporties and that's not counting the PBer's. All the boats got along quite well thank you! Looked kinda like the invasion of Okinawa or somethin' !!

Overcast skies stayed with us a good part of the day which made it really comfortable. Water was looking good and water temperature up. Just enough current to keep the fish interested along the entire water column. Everybody pretty much chose a spot, dropped the hook and started catching sandies. Very few dinks or sqeekers. Many, many 5,6,7 pound sandies.

We moved a total of 3 times but that was just to check out some areas where the barracuda might be lurking in numbers. Caught only two that I saw but they were BIG ! Went back to the sandbass grounds and went right back to catching fish !! ha ha

Beautiful halibut was also caught but the big grumpy sandies were so numberous that no one hardly noticed it or the cuda!!

I fished exclusively plastics and hits were coming on just about every cast for 30 minute flurries throughtout the day. Bigger fish numbers were divided between plastic and dropper loop rigs dropped straight down. One of my buddies caught on to using a heavier leadhead (1 oz) than I normally uses for calicos. The yellow leadheads sure seemed to attract bites better. That was the key on the plastics fishing to catch them on the fall. My usual 5 inch Kalin in brown with large scale sparkles with 4 foot leaders of 12lb test fluro did the trick! Everyone else was doing bait on the dropper loop. Jigs didn't seem to do much and even the barries were caught on bait I believe.

GREAT DAY! Just about everybody fished hard and limits were pretty easy all around. Danny asked the adult passengers to handoff a hooked fish to the 7 or 8 smaller kids on the boat once and a while and I had a ball watching these little guys crank (while holding the end of my rod handle firmly ! ha ha). I always make them take the fish 'they' caught and get the picture to record the event.

Got back to Pierpoint landing around 4:00. Everybody had limits that wanted them.

Great boat, crew, and swapped lies with some fishin' buddies I handn't seen in a while.
