When I started out, like Billy, I built a lot of my equipment and tools. There are hand wrappers that range in price from about 25 bucks to about 50. With all the suppliers online you can get some good bargans on components and for the beginner, some of the blems and seconds are good blanks to learn on and aren't expensive. You can also find some good deals on equipment and components on eBay. Search under "rod building" and "rod wrapping".

My wife gets a good laugh out of me, she get me and her mother thread for gifts. Her mom makes quilts and I build rods so pretty color threads always make a good gift for either of us.

Good luck, have fun and if you have any questions, post 'em here and I'm sure we can get it answered. If we can't, I bet we can make something up that sounds good.... just kidding..

Lee
Lee's Custom Rods
"Quality is the product of crasftsmanship"
