Need some current info.
Upon looking at the picture in the article on Alamitos Bay, CA fishing, I realized that the very spot of the photograph at the end of Olympic Stadium may still be POSTED with a NO FISHING area sign. Why, I have been there exploring for good fishing spots and read the sign at the entrance to that very spot as well as similar signs being posted on buildings near the restrooms and the pay-to-launch entrance.
Parking is great as there is a park situated quite close and very convenient if I remember correctly.
Question: Is that big 4 X 6 foot sign saying words to the effect that fishing is absolutely NOT ALLOWED on the stadium primises still posted to the left and right beside the opening in the fence directly 6 feet behind where the photograph showed? Hummmm
If the sign is no longer there or it doesn't say anything about fishing restrictions as I remember it did or does, I'd like to go fishing there myself! Indeed, is the sign no longer there? If it is there, maybe that person shouldn't be doing what he's doing.
Looking forward to a reply as I could see little fishes scurring about and I cannot but believe that spot would be great, if it's not against the law to fish there.
I'm not stirring the pot, I just don't want to go down there and see that stupid, unreasonable, lousy, rotton, sign there and not be able to fish. I've got my fingers crossed!

Damn! Someone is reading my harbor stories. To me that is a welcome experience. The Olympic Stadium was built for Rowing competition for the 1932 Olympics but we residents call it the "Marine Stadium". Across the street about 200 yards away is the "Colorado Lagoon". It was built for Olympic swimming and and diving. The two are connected by an underground tunnel. It starts from the Marine Stadium where you see the guy fishing and goes under ground to the Lagoon. There is a sign at the Lagoon banning fishing. ( many guys ignore the sign because the halibut mass under the incoming water at the tide gates and are really easy to catch. But I'm not advocating that you fish in a restricted area even though the fishing is "stupendous"). On the side of the gate where the guy is fishing there is no sign on his right but a sign barring entrance on left which is an ecological area. To clear this up many, many guys fish the spot and there isn't a "no fishing sign". If you are fishing anywhere else along the entire shoreline you must clear the beach by 8:00 AM. That guy you see fishing is on that spot daily along with many others. I even float tubed it one day but was asked to quit at 8:00. Again, thanks for reading my stories. PS Last AM high tide I witnessed hundreds croaker crammed facing into the lncoming tide at the entrance to the gate. If you are interested I have the "killer" terminal tackle for the spot. George
