Oregon Decreases Chinook Size Limit
SALEM, OR—On August 13, Oregon and federal fishery managers lowered the minimum length for chinook salmon north of Cape Falcon to 24 inches for the ocean salmon season.
The size limit was reduced because of light angling pressure and a catch estimate that is well below the season quota. Officials estimate that only 1,600 chinooks and 31,400 cohos have been caught so far this year. The season harvest quota is 8,000 chinooks and 101,250 cohos.
