A private boat report by CK?

Yes its true.. Went out on Hitnruns 24' wellcraft with Zomees because I couldn't the Liberty out on Sunday..

Our goals was to hit paddy's offshore.. We didn't really care about leaving early so we didn't get out of the Harbor until 8am.. We headed to the 277 and then worked our way down.. Saw lots of kelps but nothing but bait under them.. The guys did see a nice Mako jump of the water off the stern.. I missed it because I was working my way up to the bow to throw the Iron with beer in hand.. I did see and hear the big splash though.. I told Capt. Brock lets go to the 181 now so we started heading there.. The water was like a lake out there so after seeing this.. I asked whats your range on this boat.. He said 250 miles.. Really? I said f___it lets go to the butterfly so away we went..

We were cruising at 29kts and stopping kelps on the way.. We saw lots of kelps shy of the bank for nothing but bait.. While passing the East end of Clemente we saw the Cat Special working his way home from his 2 day.. After he passed us just about 18 miles shy of the bank we pulled up on a nice paddy.. I threw my lucky hot Red Jig on it and it was instant.. Finally, a yellow hooked.. It was only about 8lbs but we will take it.. Then hundreds of the same size and smaller tails were following it in.. Then all of us were hooked up even Zomees.. The fish were the 4-5lb models mostly but it was something to do.. We got about 12 fish on this paddy.. We decided to mark this paddy and hit it on the way back.. Worked our way to the Butterfly.. We finally got there and started looking around.. All we could find is lots of porpoise and whales.. Then I got on top of Brocks roof since it was so flat in search of the elusive Butterfly kelp.. I finally saw one then at the same time the boat turns right at it and zomees comes up and says something to me.. I couldn't believe they saw the same paddy so I took my eyes off it for a minute.. Then to find out they were chasing a whale.. I was pissed because I thought they saw the paddy but they didn't.. So of course, I couldn't find it again.. Knowing our luck it was probably loaded.. After about an hour we decided to work our way back.. We couldn't find that old paddy.. It was getting late so we kicked it up and headed home.. At this time we are out of beer THANKS BROCK.. A case in a half just doesn't cut it these days.. Soon as we got to the East end of the Cat the weather really kicked up.. We got our butts kicked on the way home.. Very wet, bumpy ride on the way in..

GREAT TRIP THOUGH

I think Zomees, Brock and I might buy a boat together.. Looking at a 36' Pacifica if we get the right price..

Brock is selling his Wellcraft only 2yrs old for only $35k.. If you looking for a nice little boat here you go.. Can't beat this price..

Total count: 12 Yellows 3 tired sober Anglers

CK

ps.. I wanted to hit Lou ow (spell) Larry's on the way back but I guess we got side tracked..

Hey there CoronaKing,

Thank you for the report and glad to hear of a great trip. Sounds like a bit of travel time but what else is new earlier on in a given species season.

12 yellows is certainly respectable. Where the 3 anglers released?! ha ha ha
