[ul]Finally after 3yrs of talking to Capt. Ernie I chartered the Chubasco III.. It was me, Hitnrun, Zomees, JC and fishingminds..
We left Saturday Night to go fish SCI for the big Yellows then go search for DODO'S in the afternoon.. The boat is a little fishing machine.. The boat carry's 15 scoops for a little six pac you can't beat that.. Its a single screw but cruises at 12kts with a top speed of 16kts also it has plenty rod holders.. We got to the cove at SCI to find there's a butt load of boats.. We anchored up on some #'s Rick from the Seahawk gave us.. The Aggressor and the Cat special were behind us then a fricken PBer anchored up right on our stern.. I could easly cast that far and knew if we hooked some bigger models we were in trouble.. Capt. Ernie is a calm big man so he didn't say anything.. About 7am we started to see some life.. Fish were boiling but no biters.. Way to many boats in there to catch fish.. Most of the Sporties just left after an hour in search of more private fishing.. I think the high boat in there only caught a few.. We got nothing to bite and heard the Dreamer and a few guys were snagging little Macks so we decided to go do that.. After we put a few macks on we went to the front side.. We stayed on one spot for most of the day and it was very productive.. It was like an aquarium.. There was 20-30 Calico's just sitting below us and the Yellows were outside of us.. So you had Calico's on one side and Yellows on the other.. I tried Iron all day for nothing even plastic wouldn't work.. They wanted fresh meat like live bait only.. We hooked about 11 of the smaller Yellows and landed 7 of them.. The smallest being about 7lbs and the biggest being about 12lbs.. Hitnrun was the hot stick on his bass outfit with 12lb.. Hooked 4 fish landed himself 2, handed off to pour Zomees one and lost the other.. JC went one for one, I went 1 for fricken 2.. Somebody loosened my drag so one I swung, I all most fell over.. The fish was barely hooked and then the hook came out.. Thanks Zomees no I don't who it was BROCK? Zomees went 0 for 1 the seal got his nice fish.. And ready for this? YES FISHINGMINDS CAUGHT FISH.. He went two for two so it must of been WFO.. He also won the big jackpot.. ABOUT TIME...
It was about 1pm now and we didn't come to the island to catch bass so we decided to go offshore in search of the DODO.. When we go in the channel it was nasty.. We got our butts kicked.. After about 1/2 hr of this rough weather I told Darryl the second lets go hit the Cat on the way in.. We fished the Cat for a little while caught a few more bass then headed home..
It was another great CK trip.. Glad I got to finally fish with the old gentle giant Capt. Ernie.. I will be chartering this boat again very soon especially when the AHI get closer.. You have plenty of fishing room and lots of bait on this boat.. You will never find a more enthusiatic Capt..
Thanks to Capt. Ernie and Capt. Darryl for putting up with us.. He said he has never had a group quite like us before.. He was very surprise that we could drink so much and catch fish at the same time.. I told him we have extraordinary talents..
