The Paul H. Young Chapter of Trout Unlimited is hosting a "FIRST CAST"
Program.
Youth, ages 8 - 14 years, are invited to join volunteers and experts
interested in fly fishing, stream ecology, and angling equipment for the
"First Cast" Program. The workshop is planned for Saturday, August 14th
from 9 am - 3 pm (registration begins at 8:30 am). Meet at the City of
Southfield LIBRARY - MTG ROOM. at 26300 Evergreen (located near 10 Mile
Road).
There is a cost of $5.00 per participant (payable on 8/14) to cover the
costs of food and materials. Rods, reels, and vises are provided for use.
Just come with a positive attitude and willing to try something new!
T.U.'s "First Cast " Program, has been specifically designed to introduce
youth to coldwater conservation through fly fishing. Participants will
learn about:
· Basic Fly Fishing.
· Basic Casting.
· Basic knots & equipment.
· Stream side education: Entomology, watershed & pollution control ethics &
etiquette and most importantly CONSERVATION.
To insure healthy habitat for trout in the future, it is essential to invest
in our youth today.
