back in the day , before the great lakes steel hall was next to carters hamburgers on southfeild and jefferson , there was a boat launch and baitstore . it was probably a hunered years old or so , the name of it was "slim's" . bootlegers "the purple gang" used it to smuggle hooch in from canada . ness and his boy's raided it and dumped it all riight there in the then 35' to 50'deep water . it's now about 3 or 4 feet deep .

but anyways , slim would give ya' 4 or 5 dosen minnows for a quarter , worms were a bit more like five dosen for two bits .

slim would tell ya what was bighting , where they were bighting and how to catch em. sometimes he'de rent the boat to you for a share of the fish .

all in all a pretty deacent guy , wasen't rich by any means but he had a lotta friends .

slims gone , the bait store is gone , and i'm lone gone from there too .

now i got larry land as i call it . larrys bait and sport here in gladwin . larrys a deacent guy along with his better half cathy . good conversation , plenty of good food and icecream , and the luckeyest worms in the county . i've cought tons of fish with em .

funny how ya only buy certin stuff from one store and not another , must be a fisherman's superstition . i visit a heap of bait stores and only buy certin stuff from each one .

don't wanna jinks myself , lol !

Any place that remembers my first name from year to year is a place that I will visit on a regular basis. This can be Dunhams, to Aunt Pickles fishing shop. When people can remember who you are it definitely makes an impression on me.
