They caught rainbow trout that weighed up to 3 pounds with live night crawler worms that were injected with air to float them above the bottom of the lake. Besides the 1,500 large trout that were stocked, the lake has been planted with several thousand trout that are around 9 inches in length.[/size][/font][/indent]

[font "Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif"][size 3]April is usually the month when the action picks up for both largemouth and striped bass. Unfortunately, anglers are still waiting for that to happen because the fishing has been very slow for both types of bass.[/size][/font]
[font "Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif"][size 3]About the only good news is that anglers are netting large threadfin shad that they are using as bait for striped bass. The fish are being taken with nets early in the mornings from the lake’s surface.[/size][/font]
[font "Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif"][size 3]Stripers are also near the surface feeding on the shad and a few of the game fish have been caught with Sassy Shad lures. NDOW biologists say that the only anglers who are now catching stripers are the diehard boaters who are fishing every day and know how to follow the fish.[/size][/font]
[font "Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif"][size 3]Some of the areas in the Boulder Basin where stripers have been caught recently are from Vegas Wash to Black Island, the 33 Hole and Boxcar Cove. No fish have been caught recently from shore or boats at Hemenway Harbor.[/size][/font]
[font "Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif"][size 3]Fishing has been equally difficult in the Overton Arm with about the only recent success coming from Stewart’s Point where boaters and shore anglers are catching striped bass and channel catfish.

Fair action for striped bass that weighed from 1 - 2 pounds took place over the weekend at Cottonwood Cove. One party of three anglers reported to the Nevada Department of Wildlife (NDOW) that they boated 35 stripers Saturday near Cottonwood.
Strong winds were a problem over the weekend and hampered the fishing, particularly on Sunday. Even so, those boaters who were able to get onto the water had some success by drifting with cut anchovies.
Largemouth bass fishing has been slow throughout the lake. Fishing has been poor around Willow Beach as well.

Storms that passed through the area over the weekend made for difficult fishing conditions. Because of this, not very many fish were caught.
Adams-McGill, Cold Springs and Haymeadow reservoirs were stocked with rainbow trout last week.
Roads on the area have been graded, so access is good. Weed growth has not yet become too much of a problem in the lakes. Temperatures have been ranging from the 30s at night to the 60s during the day.

Cave Lake, Comins Lake and Illipah Reservoir are now free of ice and the trout fishing has been fairly good at all of the lakes, according to Chris Crookshanks, NDOW biologist.
Rainbow trout that weigh 3 to 4 pounds are being caught at Comins, which is located approximately seven miles south of Ely adjacent to U.S. 93. Illipah, located west of Ely, has had good fishing for rainbow trout that were stocked last year. NDOW will stock the three lakes with rainbow trout within two weeks.
