Hale area F.O.E kid's ice fishing event
#1
Well the family and I braved the ice covered roads today to enjoy the hometown atmosphere that the Hale area has to offer .

Our fellow member and bass tournament pro Tom "bassass " as we call him here invited us over for the Hale area kids ice fishing durby . This yearley free event was put together by the Hale area's FATERNAL ORDER of EAGLES and sponsored by the generosity of a multitude of the areas local merchants and volenteers.
To them i must first say," THANK YOU VERY MUCH !" .

I could not belive how well orginised this event was , as a first time visitor I was greatley impressed . My family and i were greeted with frendly Smiles , a bag of goodies for the youngsters to snack on while out on the ice ,unlimited hotdogs , pop , chips, and my favorite fresh hot coco !

THE MASTER ANGLERS

Every child recived something , top anglers recived there plaques , drawing were held for prises (no less than tons of fishing rods , tackle boxes , fishing gear , snow boards , ice rods and reels , lanterns , tackle , gift certificates , and even an ice shanty ) . all other children who didn't place in the contests or drawings recived " goodie bags" most contained fishing rods and tackle and a wide assortment of other various products .

THE TOP ANGLER, 14"YELLOW PEARCH

now the best part of all , the Smiles , there wasen't a kid there that didn't ware a million doller Smile . belive me with the temps being sub zero , not one tear shed , old man winter couldn't touch the warmth of those kids ear to ear grins .

for you first time visitors , scroll your cursor down to the attachments listed below , click on it when it turns red and a pic will open . more pics will be in the following posts as attachments . these pics are 350 pixels wide , some are croped , originals are 2272 pixels wide and can be e-mailed to you upon request .

Thank you MEMBERS, SPONSORS AND ALL THAT ATTENDED , it was one of the best fishing outings i have enjoyed in a long time .

great event, wished I could have been there, my event last sunday was a bust. stormy showed up with a buddie and a couple neighbors showed up, but no kids. nit that I blame them.

it was cold to the bone last sunday. 15 degrees with 20 mile winds. these kids down south here cant handle a day below 30* lol, and yet they seem to like hocky (go figure....lol)

BA junior kept the holes free from snow and ice , i think he was getting tennis elbow from it , two scoops out and old man winter would put four back in just as quick .

i had a whole slew of pics lost when fishingirl changed the batteries for me , so i bought a data card for the camera - 256 mega bites of storage ![cool]

that will store 213 high quality pics without any loss from battery falure .[Wink]

i have your tip-ups , and have extra frames for them so i'll have yours repaired by this weekend .

i'm gonna try for some walleye , figured alcona or foote pond on saturday .

check out your buyers guide , farmer tim saw an add on the 2nd.page (?)

a rv warehouse and fishing supply wholesale place is going out of business , 70% off on everything !

after we bought this one we found out wally world has it's own brand of camera on and behind the photoshop counter , not with the other brand name cameras . a 4.5 goes for $80.00 , a 6.0 goes for $120.00 .

COMPAIRE THE WALLY'S CAMERA TO THE ONES IN THE SHOWCASE AND YOU CAN SEE THE NAME BRAND DESIGN OF THERE SUPPLYER .[Wink]

YOU SURE PAY ALOT FOR A NAME STAMPED ON IT [shocked] !

some years they are a blast, some years it is so cold here them city slickers just cant handle walking on water. lol...

I dont blame them for not coming out in the cold, if they dont have the cloths for the bitter cold they should stay at home. I would not want to see any one loose a finger to frost bite.

Well I am pretty sure the ice fishing is just about over around here , although I have seen a few "last ice" guys giving it a try .

I myself am headed over to the Au Sable river tomorow for some steelhead action . Tomorow's temps are going to hit the low 50's coupled with a promised rain this evening and a good moon phase , they should be slamming every fly i cast !

I will stop by bassass's house , there is a bass club meeting coming up soon in Oscoda . He can fill me in on the details .
