Callville Boat Launch - beetlespin - 08-17-2015

Does anyone know the status of Callville boat launch. Last week only 1 side was open and they were working on the other.

Betting that was a busy/painful place with one lane... I launched out of the south end of the lake at Boulder Saturday for the first time ever in the summer... WOW! Came back in around 1300 to find a parking lot that looked as full as 2+ Walmarts on Black Friday. Must be where everyone is launching on the south end of the lake right now with the ramp work going on elsewhere.

If no one pipes in with real time info the only online place I know to look is the NPS Lake Mead conditions page that is hit and miss irt working at all. Usally several days to weeks old info on it irt ramp conditions, etc.

Havent seen callville for about a month, when it was 2 lanes.

Hemminway is a mess right now. 1 Lane, set next to the actual launch ramp, in the dirt. The actual launch ramp is under construction. We will see when that pans out. There is a metal launch pad in the water there, but it was a bit of a pain trying to get off the water on Sunday during the rush hour.

No one mentioned Boulder. Is boulder harbor still open with no problems? Channel was 3 ft deep last time I was out there a month ago

Never looked into boulder harbor, but there was a steady stream of boats coming out all morning. Big wakeboard boats and such. I heard it was recently dredged, but it could just be talk.

I did just above. Somewhat.

Plenty of water for a boat going in and out at the same time. Learned first hand when coming back in in the afternoon Saturday. No issue. I had 9 feet or so under me entering/going through the gap as another boat passed me going out.

All lanes open. For you and multiple 100s of your best friends to launch out of...

There was an update on Facebook sometime last week saying all the ramp work at Lake Mead "should" be completed by the end of September.

Aug 27th update on the NPS Lake Mead news release page:

http://www.nps.gov/...way-at-lake-mead.htm

Quote:All ramp work is scheduled to be completed by the end of September. Funding for the project was provided by fees collected at entrance stations and the Southern Nevada Public Land Management Act. The contractors are Catworks Construction from Battle Ground, Washington, and DH Ortega Construction from Show Low, Arizona.

Boulder harbor is the best place to launch as it is the widest ramp at this time allowing up to six boats at a time. They have dug the channel near the outlet to nearly 10 feet. I was just at Callville last week and they were finishing up the new concrete pads replacing the steel grates which provided almost no traction for removing larger boats. I was able to load and remove my 23 foot boat with out any issues as compared to a month ago I needed assistance due to no traction on the metal grates. I am really glad to see the launch ramp improvements as well as the new surface from Lake Mead BLVD on the Las Vegas side
