Looking into a new Kicker motor - AFDan52 - 01-31-2015 I'm going to be looking into a new Kicker motor just looking right now. So I thought that I would ask all of you for your opinions and likes and dislikes of Yamaha , Evenrude , Johnson , and maybe Mercury. I have a Yamaha 9.9 hp right now , I'm wanting to go smaller like 6hp. Thanks in advance for your input. It uses straight gas, so I just put a splitter "T" in my line from my main motor so they both suck out of the same main tank. I works perfectly. For work I have a 4stroke Mercury 8hp. It also works perfectly. Either of them is a great choice. If I could choose I would choose the Merc for the simple fact that Lee's Marine works on them and Hondas are difficult to get parts for unless you go to a certified Honda dealer. Fred's Marine is the only place in northern Utah that works on Hondas. Just curious, but what happened to your kicker? Is it a 4stroke? I have a nisson 8 hp 2cyl 4 stroke that has been flawless for 3 years now. The one thing I miss is a 12 Volt output so that the battery's can be charging when trolling instead of discharging with graph and elec downriggers constantly running.
