I got a wire hair pup and would like to know if there is any good dog trainers around SLC area I could get to help me with pointing training of my dog..

pointing is a natural instinct lots of good books around to help with obedience

Yes it seems to be with this breed, but she only holds the point for a few minutes then walks away or picks up the feathers and brings them back..

Holding a point for longer then a minute is more then enough. The fresh scent of a live bird will make all the difference in the world! Obedience training is all a bird dog really needs. The rest is natural and will come with field experience. Get him on birds early and get him comfortable around guns.
