Do you catch and release spawner size walleye? - WillCFish - 05-03-2013 I recommend releasing anything that is of spawner size. The bigger the fish are that spawn the more likely the success rate will be for a good hatch that year. A big walleye can carry 250,000 eggs where a small one maybe 50,000. The rivers and certain lakes are open year round because it is all hatchery stock. The water isn't right for successful spawning. [signature] |
