Is this a carp? - Aholliday1996 - 05-03-2013 Me and a friend were fishing today and caught this fish and thought it was a carp but the little horn type things were throwing us off. Also the fish seemed to be a little beat up when it was caught. Any answers would sure be helpful, thanks. [signature] Re: [Aholliday1996] Is this a carp? - flygoddess - 05-03-2013 What? No picture. [signature] Re: [Aholliday1996] Is this a carp? - Flyfishinglover - 05-03-2013 You never know. Some community ponds get planted with grass carp that are sterile. But I think they tend to be C&R on those carp (helps keep the weeds down) But that looks more like a common carp. Maybe been prodded with a few arrows? Hmmmm - terminal carp. Now THAT sounds like a winner! Long as you're enjoying yerself, it's all good. Re: [CoyoteSpinner] Is this a carp? - Paulpro - 05-03-2013 I know.. just going carp crazy! [signature] Re: [Aholliday1996] Is this a carp? - setthehook - 05-03-2013 thats a sucker not a carp possibly [signature] Re: [setthehook] Is this a carp? - flygoddess - 05-05-2013 I am thinking the same thing. [signature] Re: [Aholliday1996] Is this a carp? - 315BassMan - 05-17-2013 That is a sucker, not a carp. A severely beat up one, at that. This first link is basically the same type of fish The second is a common carp They're easy to tell the difference between, carp usually are much bigger than suckers, and certain types of suckers, like the one you caught, have their mouth positioned a lot lower/ [signature] |
