On my off days, I like to fish on The Schuylkill River Trail (also known as Schuylkill Banks) is one of the best, and most convenient places to fish in Philadelphia. Unfortunately the river is mildly toxic, so its usually a grab and toss operation.

I would think any type of fishing is fun whether its catch and release or keep. Have you checked out the Pennsylvania state board yet? Here is a link.
