Southern California Saltwater Reports 11/13-19 - JapanRon - 11-13-2003 Southern California Saltwater Report for November 13, 2003 (Thursday) Lots of landing's boats didn't go out due to low angler numbers from Avila to San Diego! Way Up North- Avila and Monterey Chris's had one boat out to get 'crabs!?' Up North- Channel Island Most boats didn't go out but those that did got a mixed bag. LA Area- Catalina Island Not many boats out but I'll bet the Cat Special was at the east end sitting on the yellows! Further South- San Clemente No Idea but they'll be gearing up for the island week-end trips more than likely. San Diego- Local and Offshore The few boats that went out were scratching for the low end locally. Offshore boats got a few BFT, albies, and yellows. LA Local Bonito, bottom fish, sculpin but really scratchy. Lots of boats didn't go due to low angler numbers. Way Up North- Avila and Monterey Rockfish and Red Snapper the mainstays Up North- Channel Island Mixed bag of Rockfish, Whitefish, Ling, etc. LA Area- Catalina Island A few yellows, calicos and bonito with occasional barracuda. Further South- San Clemente Sorry, you'll need to call the landings. San Diego- Local and Offshore Mixed bag for those 1/2 day boats going out. There are still occasional flurrys of this and that. LA Local Mixed bag and I mean mixed bag on 1/2 and some 3/4 day boats that get out. Low angler numbers. SMB still steady on the Scuplin and Red Snappers. Oh ya, The 3/4's like the Premier, Persuit, Sport King and the Patriot are doing well on the yellows. Angler numbers down and fishing outside the island is pretty pityful. Way Up North- Avila and MonetereyLimits on all the boats from Virg's and Chris's. Up North- Channel Island Mixed bag of rockfish. All the landings had boats out today. LA Area- Catalina Island A number of 3/4's, one day and overnighters are trying to squeeze out the rats! Further South- San Clemente There are yellows around Eel Point and other spots for the boats that make the week-end trips. San Diego- Local and Offshore Local catch is meserable. Offshore count is great for many boats laoding up on ablacore, skippies and even yellowtail. LA Local Hard to even call it a mixed bag with all the low numbers of non-descript fish species. Bonito showing a bit locally and at the island. Simpler fish counts?! Way Up North- Avila and Monterey Limits of rockfish for many landings/boats. Up North- Channel Islands Mixed bag and pretty good counts for the low angler numbers. LA Area- Catalina Island Yellows and a few Calicos but its scratchy at best. Further South- San Clemente Fair action on the Yellowtails. San Diego- Local and Offshore If you consider 2 fish per rod and good average on the local boats good..... Offshore 1.5 day boats continue to do well. LA Local LA and SD boats must be competing for who has the lowest numbers of anglers and the lowest fish per angler averages. Try mostly 3 fish per angler from landing counts. barracuda, bonito, bass, sculpin, etc. JapanRon [signature] Re: [JapanRon] Southern California Saltwater Reports 11/13-19 - JapanRon - 11-18-2003 Southern California Saltwater Report for November 17, 2003 (Monday) Mondays are absolute killers for most landing! Half the landings don't have boats going out on Monday for the last month! Way Up North- Avila and Monterey one landing's boat got rockfish. Up North- Channel Island Mix of rockfish, bass, etc. LA Area- Catalina Island Some boats go just because the local fishing is so bad. A few yellow have been caught. Further South- San Clemente No information San Diego- Local and Offshore Local fishing is mesirable with either boats not going out or having a 2 fish per rod average. Offshore 1.5 day boats are doing good. LA Local Many boats have 6,7 or 10 guys going for rockfish or scratching for generally lousy counts. JapanRon [signature] Re: [JapanRon] Southern California Saltwater Reports 11/13-19 - JapanRon - 11-19-2003 Southern California Saltwater Report for November 18, 2003 (Tuesday) NOV 21 ROCKFISH CLOSURES ARE ONE DAY CLOSER! I'LL BE OUT THERE SUFFERING WITH THE SKIPPERS TOMORROW!!! Way Up North- Avila and Monterey One boat out for Rockfish. Up North- Channel Islands Island Tak got a 58lb WSB! Mixed bag. LA Area- Catalina Island somebody musta went out if there were at least 5 or 6 anglers!!!!!!!!! Hope I going tomorrow!! Further South- San Clemente Sorry guys no reliable info. San Diego- Local and Offshore Local fishing is not good unless you like bonito! Offshore 1.5 day boat catches are getting smaller and smaller. LA Local Example: One major landing had 1 boat 8 anglers for 7 bass and 9 barracuda! Need I say much more. JapanRon [signature] Re: [JapanRon] Southern California Saltwater Reports 11/13-19 - JapanRon - 11-20-2003 Southern California Saltwater Report for November 19, 2003 (Wednesday) Rockfish CLOSURES two days away!!!!!!!! Way Up North- Avila and Monterey The Patriot did OK otherwise no boats out. Up North- Channel Islands Pretty nice mixed bag for the landings and boats that fished. Whitefish, lings, rockfish, and bass. LA Area- Catalina Island Water cold and the swell messing things up. Scratching on Calico with yellows caught counted on one hand. PB'er probably did better. Further South- San Clemente No news San Diego- Local and Offshore Low numbers of anglers and fish caught. A few bonito and rockfish caught. LA Local A nice flurry of barracuda caught with the usual bottomfish and bass. JapanRon [signature] |
