Test Drive at Strawberry - TheCarDoctor - 09-04-2012 The fishing was slow over the weekend, but it was a successful test drive of my newly installed electric motor. It's a great addition to my tube and I can't wait to try it out some more. Thanks to everyone for tips, advice and pictures I could copy your designs from. The thought occurred to me that it would really ruin my day if I slid out of my seat with the electric motor going. Has anyone wired up a dead-man switch in their tube or toon? Can't beat that ! My son's catch Lazy kids these days... [signature] Re: [TheCarDoctor] Test Drive at Strawberry - TubeDude - 09-04-2012 [cool][#0000ff]It would be easy enough to install a kill switch. But I opted for a simple on-off switch...sold by Bass Pro shops...the "Bigfoot" switch. Only about $17 and really makes it easier to shut down quickly without having to reach back and turn the motor handle. I mount it right beside me for fast access. That red truck in the back ground on #3 is our truck! Wish I had known it was you. Old Troller showed up later and Orvy and friend were there too. We launched just below our campsite which was about 100 yards of no fun packing everything everything down. [signature] Re: [TheCarDoctor] Test Drive at Strawberry - flygoddess - 09-05-2012 Yes. Bryants Fork or East Portal Bay. [signature] Re: [TheCarDoctor] Test Drive at Strawberry - OldTroller - 09-08-2012 I wired mine to a switch too. But yes you would be in trouble if slipped out of that while the motor was running. Much more so if you didn't have a life jacket on. I ended up catching 9 real nice trout that day. I got off the water at dark. That is a tricky place/area. It can be real hot one day and so cold the next. But you'll get it figured out. Does the weight of a motor in back make it easier to slip out? i would think it would have the opposite effect. I have never come remotely close to slipping out of my tube.
