Are there really crawdads in lake mead? - lvfishingdude - 08-16-2012 When i cleaned a couple stripers that were caught up near echo bay last weekend 2 of them were full of crawdads. I have seen plenty since I started fishing mead. I have also caught stripers that had them in their bellies. Occasionally you will find some washed up on th shore in the winter. Also you can use craw colored lures to catch lmb,smb and stripers. Some were pretty big. I used to catch them as a kid. We'd see them at night in rocky areas. I've never see one in a fish's belly but I'm sure they eat them. I have caught fish on craw patterns at mead. Not a giant population, but they are an important forage for bass, stripers and catfish. Apparently carp eat 'em too.
