I have a buddy on a mission to catch a tiger Musky...where the heck can we go around here to get a shot at one? Any thoughts? Please? He wont leave me alone about it...

only for sure place that comes to mind is cascade reservoir where they stocked em a few years ago for pike minnow abatement. didn't put in alot considering size of lake. never heard of anyone catching them. don't know how many planters survived.

A friend showed me a newspaper article and picture of a big Tiger Musky caught in Cascade about a month ago. I don't know the specifics, but it was a big musky. I Googled it, but couldn't find any details.

i saw on a different site a guy caught a big one a couple months ago. the pic was taken at tackle tom's in cascade so i bet a phone call there would be a good start !

Yeah Cascade may be a possibility...and if we dont have any luck we can go for kokes or whatever...alot to choose from there....also heard little Payette is close by and it has more muskies in it...thanks guys![fishin]

you can fish your arms off at Cascade and never hook one, or maybe get lucky if you really know how to target them. The recent one people are talking about was caught in Cascade with a crappie jig perch fishing. A fluke. I know people that catch several a day at the little payette lake in McCall. gl

cascade is the closest. dont take this the wrong way but dont expect to catch any.you want to fish the shallow coves and arms above sugarloaf. my bro caught one bass fishing a few years ago. spinnerbait buzzbait topwater jerkbait and fluke will all work. take him smallie fishing or go to another state

Pine View and Newton near Logan or Ogden in Utah are supposed to be great places to catch one. If you are in SE Idaho that is probably your best bet. Northern Idaho has Pike for sure and the reservoirs in SE Idaho probabaly still hold a few Tiger Muskie but it has been quite a while since any stocking of them. I do hope that since they have got things figured out at the hatcheries with them we start to see a few put into the waters they have been in before and some consideration for places like Alexander and Onieda.

Dog Creek Resevoir north of Gooding. F and G put them in there years ago. Haven't heard much on the catching of them but they have to be 40 inches to keep.

Don't waste your time at Dog Creek. I caught a 37" about 5 or 6 years ago and there hasn't been much since then. I don't think it has been stocked with tigers in about 8 years but I could be wrong.

In Idaho the chances of catching a TM are pretty slim. It has been mentioned already, but here it is again. ---go to Utah. If I really needed to catch one, I would go to Newton Reservoir in Utah. It is a ways away from you but judging from the reports, I would say that you have a good chance there. There is another res in Utah that has been doing well for the TM, but at the moment I can't think of it.

Hauser Lake. 38 lbs., 7 oz. Current State Record from 2001. Payette Lake is a good Muskie Lake. A few members of the Idaho Steelheads went up a couple of years ago and did really well for 30" to 40" fish.

Just know that if you do decide to fish newton or pineview for muskie they all must be released.
I live about 15 min from pineview and seriously pursued (at least once a week) the toothy fish all of last year only to catch one, so they aren't exactly easy to get ( have darn near perfected the SMB there though). I do fish from a float tube so maybe that is part of the issue on not catching them. If anyone wanted to try it I would be game to help but couldn't promise anything.
