trolling rod and reel - maitopoika - 06-08-2010 What do you use for trolling??I am just wondering if i should use an actual trolling rod/reel, do i need one? I would also like to troll for kokanee at strawberry. I don't have down riggers, will lead line work for that? Again what rod/real should one use for that? maybe dumb questions, but thanks for answering. Yes, lead core will work fine for trolling, I use it all the time. I have used the cheaper level wind reels that Sportsmens sell and have had good success, I can't remember the exact brand name but I can go take a look if your interested. I think I paid $30 or so for it a few years back. There are certain reels that work better than others when using a level wind reel but it something that could wait if it is not in the budget.
