Giant Trevally...Maumere, Flores - Indonesia - adam5589 - 09-14-2009 Date: 04-06 September 2009 Location: Maumere, Indonesia. Anglers: Mr. John Hambali, Mr. Andrew R, Mr. Ky Doucet, Mr. Adam Tanzil Boat: Xtreme Ulua (.xtreme-ulua.com) Captain: Mr. Kasasi Wind: Southeast Weather: Sunny Fish caught : Giant Trevally, Red Bass, Barracuda. Fishing Techniques: Popping & Trolling (C & R). Dear all, This is our first trip to explore Maumere in Flores, Indonesia. Our main goal is casting to YFT school on the surface , but unfortunately the YFT school can not be found. According to local fishermen we met in Maumere, the good time for casting YFT is in October-November and best time is April-May, so were way a bit too early for targetting tuna in the area. We were informed that, in the months of October-November: YFTs will surface in morning until afternoon and in the months of April-May: YFTs will be on the surface all day. Due to this situation then we were forced to execute plan B ...... GT popping which resulted in us CnR a few GTs, Red Bass n Barracuda. Check these video, although we did not reach our main goal but overall we had a lot of fun: .xtreme-ulua.com/fishing_video.php Maumere is scheduled for a revisit and pending the informations from the locals, if there are no obstacles, Xtreme Ulua will definitely return to Maumere in April or May 2010 for chasing big YFT.
