JDK, Riverpark, Smallmouth, 2/8 - FishNews - 02-09-2009
<br /> Great day out a little windy but was warm..Water temp was 45 degrees.. Fished from about 300 to 630 only had 2 bites all day..Fished traps, grubs, jigs crankbaits and shiners..basically threw the tackle box at them. Nothing until about 5 o&#39;clock when my crankbait got destroyed..Knew it was a big fish from the get go..It even fought like a smallie for a brief second when she came up I finally realized that I had an ole ugly catfish on.. Probably went about 10 lbs. It destroyed the Norman sexy shad colored crankbait and had both trebles in his mouth..By the time i got the bait out my hooks were straightened.. After this decided to drift one of my more productive smallie areas and on the 3rd pass through hooked up.. Screaming drag I was in for a fight... Finally after a few runs around the boat and twice bowing my rod almost under the boat I got her netted..Probably was right over 4lbs ..Missed my smallie tarp by a darn 1/8 inch.. Measured out at 19 7/8&amp;quot; . Was a nice chunk and made the trip worthwhile.
