Caught some kingfish, not big(pic) - migrod - 06-02-2008 Did some trolling for Kings in FT. Pierce Florida . Caught a Dorado and Kingfish, not smokers but nice eatin size. It was a slow day, went 6 hours without a bite. Darn porpoises were following the boat the whole day, pretty sure it's the reason the kings and dorado were inclined to bite. If you continue to slow troll with them and stay in the area, you're wasting your time. Burn the 3 gallons of gas it would take to pull up and out run the pod and go somewhere else. That's what that wonderful chart plotter is for, finding you a new spot. Also, if moving isn't an option, loose the live bait and high speed troll spoons and swimming plugs. You'll do just as good, and the bow riders can't keep up. [signature] Re: [Tarpon4me] Caught some kingfish, not big(pic) - migrod - 06-06-2008 You are 100% right. But I was an invite on that particular trip and couldn't really call the shots. But when I am on my boat, I do exactly what you suggested to loose the porpoises. Thanks for the reply. [signature] |
