you do have to be a little more spicific in your designations, There are dozens of places with the same name all over the country.

I'm going to move this over to the TN Board. You'll get some good local advice there.

I live in Franklin, TN and you mainly have the Harpeth River that you could try. Their is Monsanto Lake near Santa Fe (northwest) of Columbia. I see it on google maps but don't know anything about it. I go to Old Hickory Lake (hermitage, old hickory, hendersonville, gallatin area) is a river that gets water from cordnell lake. Or I will go to Percy Priest Lake (hermitage, smyrna, mt. juliet area) it is a dammed up lake a lot deeper then Old Hickory but both are good for different reason. The dam is right off I-40 eastbound and you can't miss it. You can fish on either side of the Dam by foot, below is best right after they let alot of water out, but the drought has kept below the Dam very low until lately. Old Hickory lake has the world record Smallmouth Bass. Old Hickory Lake is about 1 hour or so from Sring Hill, and the end of Percy Priest is about 45 mintues, 15 minutes past 840 and I-24 in Murfreesboro area. Your best bet is to hop on 840 and drive east and go to Fate Sanders Marina (http://fatesandersmarina.lbu.com/). It is a prime Largemouth Bass area. Or you could go 1-1.5 hrs south to Wheeler Lake in AL. But in Spring Hill or near Spring Hill their isn't any lakes. The only fishing area would have to be a river.

I see the nearest big bodies of big water is a bit of a drive from you... "Mississippi, Kentuckey and Berkley lakes"

that being noted, do you have a particular species you like to target?

I know that counties do stock some of the smaller county parks around you down in Maury just south of you, I havent a clue right now as to what and where they stock, but if your intrested I can dig that information up for you...

Re: [tntitans21399] to fish in columbia, spring hill area of tennessee? - davetclown - 11-27-2007

Well, I have to start up an argument here.. HEE HEE...

now I think I did hear of a fish coming from old hickory lake, but I think it was disqualified because it was transported live because the guy wanted to release it, and Tenn law prohibits the transportation of live fish with out a permit...

now my understanding is that the world largest smallmouth bass was taken from Dale hallow.

There are two claims to the title, one from 1955 and one from 1969. Both fish are from dale hallow...

Here is a link to an article I read a couple years back... [#551a8b]ESPN - Taylor Wilson: Smallmouth world record celebrates 50 years[/#551a8b]

Oh, how I remembered this particular fish is... It has been my goal in life to hold the next world record small mouth bass title.... "every body has to have a goal in life" [cool]

I think that is about it, all the rest seem to be privet access..

you may want to try stopping at a local tavern along the route or make a network of associations to hook up with some of the land owners for some posible fishing adventures...

You can always find some one who will go fishing, but finding a fishing good buddy is harder than finding a wife...[Tongue]

My bad the world record smallmouth was at Dale Hollow Lake in the Tennessee side so here is the freshwater world records that Tennessee holds:

Black Buffalo-55lbs 8oz-Edward H. McLain-Cherokee Lake, TN May 3, 1984

Blue Catfish-111lbs-William McKinley-Wheeler's Reservoir, TN July 5, 1996

Freshwater Drum-54lbs 8oz-Benny E. Hull-Nickajack Lake, TN April 20, 1972

Smallmouth Bass-10lbs 14oz-John T. Gorman-Dale Hollow, TN April 24, 1969

Walleye-25lbs-Mabry Harper-Old Hickory Lake, TN August 2, 1960

dont look like the memory was too bad, you did have a record comeing from old hickory, with so many world records how can any one be expect to keep them all streight... [Tongue]

the chance for a 25lb walleye might be worth the drive to Old Hickory...

I am planing on moving to the dale hallow area one of these days if this economy ever streightens out....

Old hickory looks to be about an hour or so from dale hallow...

thanks for
