Clear Lake, CA... Questions - Discman - 01-06-2007 I'll be heading to the Clear Lake area next week. Are there any FFers in Northern Cali with some tips for some good places to wet a line. Clear Lake is a warm water fishery, and I am looking for some local trout streams. Thanks for any tips, Kyle [signature] Re: [Discman] Clear Lake, CA... Questions - tubeN2 - 01-07-2007 The only close trout in the are is at the Indian Valley Reservoir. It is just North East of Clear lake. Otherwise you could go to the Delta and take your chances on some nice Stripers, Salmon or Steelhead.[cool] [signature] Re: [tubeN2] Clear Lake, CA... Questions - Discman - 01-13-2007 I actually found trout at Blue Lakes (very small lake), just North of Clear Lake. Didn't catch much, Pretty much needed a float tube. I did find one area to cast from shore though, and ended up catching one smallish trout on a brown wooly bugger. I am not really a fan of lakes, you pretty much need a boat or a float tube, and I have niether. Very fun trip though, the weather was a little chilly, but sunny pretty much the whole time. There are usually good trout in them.[cool] [signature] Re: [tubeN2] Clear Lake, CA... Questions - Scruffy_Fly - 01-14-2007 West of Winters California there is the Putah River for Trout below the reservoir. I forgot the Reservoir's name, which was a noted bass lake. I know at one time it was closed because of New Zealand Mudsnails. I don't know if they ever openned the river for fishing again. I did fish the Yuba river east of Marysville for trout once. South of where the Highway crosses over the river. Caught a few rainbows. Saw a number salmon on redds. [signature] |
