Lake LBJ & Canyon Lake Guide Report - JimF - 12-28-2006 Lake LBJ: Water clear; 56-57 degrees; 824.86': Largemouth are good in numbers on stumps and laydowns and along seawalls in 3'-6' on Bleeding Shad Rat-L-Traps, 1/4 oz. white/char. Terminator spinnerbaits Texas rigged Fire & Ice worms w/bass up to 6 lbs. by deadsticking wtrmelon-red plastic jerkbaits. White Bass are fair casting and jigging Tiny Traps at daylight and trolling Shad Raps. Crappie are fair in 10'-15' over brushpiles on Curb's crappie jigs and live minnows. Smallmouth are fair early (best under cloud cover) in 6'-10' working down sloping points using purple Robo-type worms on "giggy" jigheads, smoke JDC grubs, then along breaklines and bluff ledges from 10'-20' deep w/3/16 oz. black Curb's hair jigs and smoke 3" Creme Lures' tubes on ball-type jigheads. Stripers are improving shallower (again-as weather and water cools down) especially in 'sloppy' weather, over deep water vertically jigging Pirk Minnows, white Curb's striper jigs and trolling Gizz 4 crankbaits on downriggers or lead-line. White Bass are slow along main river channel jigging 1/4 oz. silver Pirk Minnows and Road Runners.
