sticky - davetclown - 07-31-2006 sticky, that is putting it mildly, monday 96 and tuesday 100... hot hot hot.... with near 80% humitity and heat index of one hundred for monday and heat index of 105 for tuesday... can any one say fish soup! grab your spoon cause them fishies are going to be cookin on high for the next couple days, so grab your cane pole and find a shady spot on the river, you wont want to be but a jump in the lake away from cool stuff for the next couple days, if you are any thing like me you wont want to be bothered by the fish so leave the hooks in the box and give the worms a day off....[angelic] but in case you are looking for a fish dinner fish deap is the word of the day, find your winter hole and start around there.... 15-25' [signature] Re: [davetclown] sticky - lonehunter - 07-31-2006 Yes sir , pretty hot and humid ! I fished the P.M. this weekend , C&R only , had plenty of cool clear water to wade thru and to sit in to take a break . . Between pentwater and ludington there is a fishmarket near the resiviour , you can buy just about any type of fresh sea food for the grill or get it fried up to eat out on their picnic tabels . they been doing it since 1898 , parking is limited and the line is long , but well worth the wait [ ![]() [signature] Re: [lonehunter] sticky - davetclown - 08-01-2006 here is what I was looking at out side my window today at 330. tomarow is suspost to be hotter...[shocked] [signature] Re: [lonehunter] sticky - davetclown - 08-01-2006 [center]arrrrrrrrrrrrrg![/center] [center] [signature] Re: [davetclown] sticky - lonehunter - 08-02-2006 Our plant closed for second shift today due to the high temps, unfortunatly I work first shift . Yesterday one of my buddys played a prank on me , I started the jeep and turned the air on for the ride home , when I got out I found he had turned it off and put the heat on . I took it in good humor as it was intended to be . On the way home I had to round up two cows on the highway and put them back into their pasture , escaping the hot sun wasn't just for us two legged creatures , LOL ! It's almost 9P.M. , and I'm still roasting ! [signature] Re: [lonehunter] sticky - davetclown - 08-10-2006 it was down right chilly today, 85... I got around to cutting the yard and about mowed over a dinner, a big ol bull frog moved in to the back yard... I ran over him with the push mower then stepped on him before he jumped out of the way.... the yard had gotten about a foot tall in the last month. been bussy workin on the roof. I wetted a line for half dozen cast last night, I tossed a yellow rooster tail, landed half dozen 3 inch rockbass and gills right at dusk, I should have taken my black jitter bug to see if I could have talked a pike in..... [signature] Re: [davetclown] sticky - lonehunter - 08-10-2006 I'll be going down the cedar river saturday , in a canoe . Imight have two junior angeling gals with me , so it should prove interisting , one has never been fishing . I put in one of those home depot garden ponds and have two frogs making it there home . They wouldn't stay in it when the water was clear but after the hat eating dog figured it was the next best thing to a fire hydrant they move into the alge infested pond . I would clean the pond out but the frogs already recived names from the kids . The nights are perfect up here , just cool enough to keep the windows open to hear the crickets singing there love songs outside . [signature] Re: [lonehunter] sticky - davetclown - 08-11-2006 I got a tree frog outside my window that stays open, for the longest time I thought he was living under the floor of my house, I found him in my boat, the best I could figure was he fell out of the giant poplar tree in to the boat, so I caught him and put him back in the tree and hoped the owls and bats didnt get him... the crickets are big and fat right now, wished I could find me about three dozen, I could get me some of them lunker gills right about now.... [signature] Re: [davetclown] sticky - lonehunter - 08-13-2006 Well cought one fish yesterday on the canoe trip , in the bottom of the canoe . within five munites we hit a narrow bend with a canoe eating bush blocking most of the way , yes sir ,we took a swim . when we fliped the boat over to get rid of all that stream that didn't belong in it out came a small sucker . It was a last munite decision not to bring the fishing rods , i would have lost a few items for sure . Seeing one huge brown trout a few hours later made me think it would have been worth the risk . [signature] Re: [lonehunter] sticky - davetclown - 08-14-2006 it is amazing how much one person will gather in a couple years, My tackle box started out 13 inches long, 8 inches high and 8 inches width, I moved up to a bigger one dimentions 18 inches wide 11 inches highe 11 inches in width. and then I decided to go smaller and my box became one inch high, 3 inches in width and 5 inches long... yep it fit in my pocket, for years that was my box, I never realy needen anything bigger than that when I only target gills, My rod shrank down to 11 inches in lenth so it could mound on a bycicle for cross country trips... or go in the glove box for a quick jump on a river along side the road if I saw a fish jump.... now my box is, well the biggest of my 9 boxes is 24 inches high, 20 inches wide and 5 feet long.... the only difference between now and then is that now I do the kids fishing so I need a box that size so I can keep every thing in one place, I think I remember your boxes, that would have been a mess on the bottom of the river, for weeks to come... and a real danger for the next person who took a dump around that bend. Hope the reels werent to hard to clean after the dunk... I know if ya dunk them in lake michigan it is a stop and clean emediatly situation because of all the sand... [signature] Re: [davetclown] sticky - lonehunter - 08-17-2006 we didn't take fishing gear on the trip , a few sodas , some breakfast bars and some water blasters , the fish was scooped up into the canoe [laugh] ! After work tomorow , beaver bill and his lady friend will be in one canoe , rockpainter bill and I will be in another canoe . We are fishing the cedar river from wiggins lake all the way to gladwin . We saw some big browns and bass on the last trip , this time were hoping to get some fish in the boats the easy way , with a rod and reel [ ![]() Here's some news for you , kings are being cought at the 6 mile bridge ( fact ), rumors are they are a little further up river too [cool].
