Hydraulic jack plate? - kd... - 05-11-2004

Can someone who actually has a hydraulic jackplate answer a silly question?

The question is...At slow trolling speeds, If the motor is lifted to its highest level, is the boat speed reduced? If so how much difference in speed?

Thanks

I believe it will slow the speed by cause more aeration behind the prop. Less water behind the prop provides less mass in witch to apply force to.

Coldfooter

I believe you're right. I was hoping I could get some real world numbers. Do you have a jack plate? How much difference in speed between "full up" and "full down"?

Thanks

Its a device that goes between the transom and the motor that allows you to move the height of the engine up and down to gain optimum performance out of your engine.
