Strawberry 10/8/19 - lovetofish - 10-09-2019
Thought I'd give the Berry a try before the coming storm the next couple of days. Good choice.
Arrived at Renegade at 7:15 it was a cold 21 degrees. Trolled black streamers and caught my first fish of the day after 10 minutes. The usual slot cutt. Caught two more while trolling flies. Decided to give jigs a try and I'm glad I did. It was non stop action until I decided to leave at 11:00. I stopped counting at 17 and caught another ton after that. Each cast was either 'fish on' or missed strikes. All slot cutts. Fun day.

Sounds like you had a great day of catching. Why did you quit at 11:00?
If you don’t mind me asking, did you drift and jig or anchor and jig? And did you tip your jigs with bait?

I generally only fish the mornings plus the wind was starting to pick up.
I was just drifting and then would move back to where I started (approximately). At first I was tipping with a worm but got tired of rebaiting so just used the plain jig and it didn't matter they still took it. The jig was 'off white with black speckles'.

Hard to beat the white tub jig fall bite up there! We are headed back up there again this Friday, after the big freeze....so we will see how it effects them.

We were up there also; however, we didn't find very many fish around Renegade. After trying numerous locations, we ended up doing the best in Strawberry Bay. Think algae in nearly all locations.
