Anchor suggestion needed - 8andout17 - 04-07-2017 What style/type/weight anchor do you recommend for a 14 aluminum boat in Lake Mead. I typically stay in water less than 60 feet deep. I would also appreciate your anchor suggestions for Willow Beach. Thanks! I have a 9# Tie Down Engineering fluke for my 18'er and had it hold in nasty stuff out at Mead, much worse than you'll be in in a 14'er. Willow depends on where you're going. I've had a 15# navy anchor bouncing long the rock/gravel bottom up by the dam when the flow rate was up, wouldn't hook up even though the name on the anchor is "Hooker".... I usually take my 14' jon boat to Willow, and use one of those collapsible 4 prong anchors, works well, but I'm not anchoring in fast current. Get some chain for the anchor if you want it to hold, and not pull. I have a 7' and 13' sections of 5/16" that I use on Mead, if it's nasty I'll use all 20' out the bow. Smaller chain would be appropriate for your boat, 5' or so. [signature] Re: [fishrdan] Anchor suggestion needed - 8andout17 - 04-08-2017 Thanks for the info! Great anchor. A little pricey, but worth it.
